Meet the Team

Sam Liang

Founder & Managing Partner

In 1974, at the young age of 9, Sam immigrated with his parents to the US from Hong Kong. He spent his first year in the states learning English while enrolled in elementary school. During his college days at UMass Lowell, he worked many jobs to pay for his tuition, and was awarded the prestigious Francis Lowell Cabot award for Young Alumni of the Year.

Sam understands what it means to work hard. That’s why he’s passionate about helping his clients keep what they’ve worked hard for all of their lives so they can enjoy a worry-free retirement. He’s been doing this since 1990. In the early years, when Sam (and now retired partner Richard Rubino) started this company, it was just the two of them, a desk, and a phone.

Fast-forward 25 years, Sam and his partners have helped educate and guide thousands of people from all walks of life to and through retirement. With a full and knowledgeable staff, along with direct relationships with CPAs and lawyers concentrating in estate planning, Rubino & Liang Wealth Partners is always ready to help its clients plan for a comfortable retirement.

Some of Sam’s past achievements include being the recipient of the 1999 Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award, given to 40 business and civic leaders in the greater Boston area for their outstanding accomplishments in their business communities. In 2000, he also received the prestigious Francis Lowell Cabot award as the Alumni of the Year for the University of Massachusetts – Lowell.

In 1999, Sam was named one of the rising “40 under 40” in greater Boston in the Boston Business Journal. He was also awarded the prestigious Five Star Wealth Manager award. His work has been featured in Forbes, FOX business, Fortune, MSNBC, Money, the Boston Globe and Boston Herald. Along with Emmy award reporter Susan Wornick, he has contributed to FOX television’s show Around Town, as well as other TV appearances. He’s the co-author of two books, No Blood, No Money and Just Don’t Lose the Money.

Sam’s proudest accomplishment is his family – his wife, Eileen and their four children, Devin, Samantha, Ethan and Harrison. He lives in Bedford, MA, is a member of the board of trustees at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA and enjoys traveling with his family in his spare time (and attempts to play golf).
